Home/Welcome

I’m Mitchell—a storyteller by trade, a photographer by heart, and an ELA teacher who has spent over a decade finding the magic in the margins.

My story began on the North Carolina coast, where the Atlantic waves were the only soundtrack I knew. But as they say, the drought was the very worst—and now, I’ve ‘screamed and fallen in love’ with a brand-new life on the California shore. I’ve traded those Carolina pines for Pacific palms, finding my rhythm on the complete opposite side of the map.

This site, Blank Space & Polaroids, is my personal archive. As a teacher, I’ve always known that the best stories are the ones we capture ourselves. Here, I’m stepping out from behind the desk to share my own: from the ‘vivid dreams’ of my photography and the prose I’m constantly drafting, to the pop-culture moments and daily archives that keep me inspired.

I’ve always believed that life is a series of snapshots—some a little blurry, some perfectly framed, but all worth keeping. Whether you’re here for a life update, a peek inside my brain, or just to share a laugh over the ‘chaos and the cascading’ stories of my day-to-day, I’m glad you’re here.

I’ve got a blank space, and I’m filling it with everything I love.
Let the games begin…
